hi!
i have my Spotify (AUR) set to minimise to the tray when it's closed. however, clicking close does... nothing.
it stays on screen and i can still interact with it. the tray icon does change from saying "Minimize to tray" to "Show Spotify", but nothing else happens.
additionally, nothing happens when i click "Show Spotify" apart from changing back.

I found a way to solve it, but is not definitive
You can install spotify-player using pacman (I'm not sure if it works the same with the AUR package. but I think that works the same), after install, you type on your terminal
spotify_player authenticate that will take you to an "authentication screen" if you logged spotify previously on your browser.
after you authenticate, you can run spotify-player as a daemon with
spotify-player -d then you open the spotify app, and if it is correctly setup, you will see a new device called spotify-player, you need to select the device. after that you go to the config and deactivate the "close button minimize the spotify window".
there are drawbacks like low volume, or it will not apear on waybar. Its not a definitive solution, but it works. I hope that this works for you
PS: I think that you can also use spotifyd, but haven’t tested it yet.
Sorry, about my english, I'm not a native speaker, and this is my first post

Well I face this issue as well. Spotify seems to be running in wayland itself.
spotify-launcher 0.6.4-1
Spotify for Linux 1.2.79.425.g1d0fcf61
Edit: Seems like this is a spotify issue.
