[SOLVED] Nemo - Latest update issues.

The latest update, Nemo (6.6.1.1) shows the message  "The files in this folder are used as templates in the “Create New Document” section of your context menu" across the top of the home screen.
Selecting "Preferences" causes a complete lock-up. Closing the application results in the message "Nemo is not responding - Force Quit?" Downgrading to 6.4.5.1 solves all issues.

I have the same error, with the latest cinnamon update I had other errors that were solved only with new releases...

Sorry - should have said that the issue followed the latest Cinnamon update.

For what it's worth, I don't use the Templates directory so I had it set to $HOME in .config/user-dirs.dirs.

After seeing this message I just shoved it into an empty subdirectory of .local/share instead (see below), and had no further issues.

XDG_TEMPLATES_DIR="$HOME/.local/share/templates"

The solution proposed by mesaprotector works, but only temporarily (just as rolling back to the previous version works temporarily) since the new Cinnamon 6.6.3-1 update has recreated the same malfunction as Nemo...

Nemo update to 6.6.2 fixes the problem.
