sddm on Hyprland

hey you Arch guys, this is my first time in here ..
i've installed Arch on Qemu ( after 1 year of using Debian )  and tried to jump into Hyprland so i've got a dotfiles package and just went from there .. everything works just fine except for my sddm catpuccin theme which is acting a bit weird as whenever i log in i start to get a cursor-like (+) hovering over my cursor !! i dont have that issue when i switch to cosmic-greeter though , .. anyone has ever faced same issue ? i'd like to get some help after spending 2 days fighting with .config files and couldn't get anywhere ..

Re: sddm on Hyprland

How did you install catpuccin-cursors? Have you tried purging any existing installation and installing the AUR package? See https://github.com/catppuccin/cursors?t … arch-linux

I'm assuming you have set the sddm cursor theme as specified in the manual: https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/SDDM#Mouse_cursor

Re: sddm on Hyprland

hey sfn! thanks for your reply ..
i've installed catppuccin theme through their github repo .. i simply cloned it and followed the steps they've provided to config it ! i believe it's an sddm related issue because i've already purged the catppuccin theme whole config and tried to use only sddm package installed with pacman .. i got the same issue which is confusing !!

Re: sddm on Hyprland

Hm. after a quick google this seems like an open issue with sddm: https://www.reddit.com/r/hyprland/comme … fter_sddm/ https://github.com/sddm/sddm/issues/422. Someone in the reditt post solved it with xorg-setroot

You might also have some luck configuring hyprland's cursor theme, check out the FAQ: https://wiki.hypr.land/FAQ/#how-do-i-ch … use-cursor

Otherwise, looks like you're probably stuck with it if you really want to use sddm. (If you like hyprland, you might like greetd + greetd-regreet, but that's my personal choice)

Re: sddm on Hyprland

i really appreciate your help
even the solution mentioned in the subreddit didn't work for me ,  the cross shaped cursor didn't disappear it just turned into a typical cursor hoverig over my customized ( mylinuxforwork hyprland dotfiles configuation)  , i just disabled sddm again a get back to cosmic-greeter .. i guess i'm done with sddm , i'm gonna try with anothr DM if i got lucky with anyone that works fine with wayland ..
Again i really appreciate your dedicated time .. i'll keep u posted if i got lucky with a solution . have a good one dude !

Re: sddm on Hyprland

turned into a typical cursor

Since you removed the catpuccin cursor config(and the pkg itself probably), sounds like it fell back into the default Adwaita cursor.
