Problem with yay - error while loading shared libraries: libalpm.so.15

I was installing with yay and got this:

[person@archlinux yay]$ yay
yay: error while loading shared libraries: libalpm.so.15: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

I can't remove it with pacman or yay:

[person@archlinux ~]$ sudo pacman -Rcns yay
[sudo] password for person:
error: target not found: yay
[person@archlinux ~]$ yay -R yay
yay: error while loading shared libraries: libalpm.so.15: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

I tried to pull the repo and do a rebuild from a friends advice and this the build had some conflicting files issue.

error: failed to commit transaction (conflicting files)
yay-debug: /usr/lib/debug/usr/bin/yay.debug exists in filesystem (owned by yay-bin-debug)
Errors occurred, no packages were upgraded.
==> WARNING: Failed to install built package(s).

You'll have to update/rebuild yay.
And inb4: => https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Makepkg

error: target not found: yay
pacman -Qo yay

Re: Problem with yay - error while loading shared libraries: libalpm.so.15

Just to clarify that after a pacman update, the following worked for me:

git clone https://aur.archlinux.org/yay.git
cd yay
makepkg -si
