[solved]How are ArchWiki edits reviewed?

Hello,

I recently created an ArchWiki account out of curiosity and noticed that pages can be edited immediately. I have not made any edits and do not plan to at the moment.

I understand that the ArchWiki follows an open-editing model similar to other community wikis. I was simply curious about how the project handles accidental or malicious edits (for example, misleading advice or removal of content).

Is this primarily handled through page history, watchlists, and active maintainers, or are there other safeguards in place?

Thanks for the clarification.

There is a really active team of admins, moderators and others users that watch over all the edits via their watchlist, recent changes and other means.

The most important task is aiding in review. Watchlist your favorite articles and help review the edits! https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/ArchWi … rtant_task

Gromit and NetSysFire explained one part, and to that I shall also add two maintenance bots: Lahwaacz’s bot and Kynikos’s bot. But this is only one part, particularly relevant while facing intentional malicious activity and stylistic errors.

The bulk of protection against mistakes and dishonest⁽¹⁾ edits comes from Arch Wiki being a wiki. Wikis are so successful and, within their intended topics, so reliable because this inherently emerges from how they operate.

But also be aware Arch Wiki has a ton of outdated content. Help in editing, if you can provide good, reliable information.

⁽¹⁾ I replaced word “malicious” with “dishonest”, because it’s the outcome that matters most, not the intent.

Sure, I’ll try to contribute. I want to learn and understand things first, and make sure I can provide accurate, reliable information before editing. smile
