Hello!
Since the recent update, sound is not working anymore. In Pipewire's mixer the sound adapter (Some Intel / Realtek HDA thing, I never understood why audio chips always come in two part ) is not shown anymore.
I restarted Pipewire services, shutdown the notebook, reinstalled pipewire-pulse including all dependencies (which supposedly includes anything important from Pipewire) to no avail.
Just exactly the four adapters that I don't and can'T use are still there.
But the one I need (the notebook's internal Intel audio) is gone.

I can still see it in tools like HardInfo2:

Can you help me, please?

do you have this installed?

Yes. Should I remove it?
Edit:
I thought it might have been config files changed by the Pipewire update, and so I copied the older config directories (pipewire and wireplumber) from a Timeshift backup to ~/.config and restartet all related services. But this did not help.

The weird thing is:
While tools like hardinfo2 and aplay still show the audio adapter ( ALC285 Analog ), I can not find it using lscpi:
aplay -l

As a reminder: It's working when I boot Windows on the same notebook (which I haven done for years before, just for making clear that Windows is not the culprit here).

A session with Claude 'solved' the issue:
Actually the output was there all the time - after doing a lot of simple but very confusing checks, it became clear, that the formerly different named output (It was something like 'Generic HDA-Audio' or such, now is named Ryzen HA Audio.
No good idea of them changing this ..
But it's working again, and that's what counts!
Thank you! ![]()
