Hello guys
I have this problem ..
hardware : i7-14700k / msi prob760-pII / and nvidia gtx 970 !!
after updating X doesn't start ! black screen .. just the tty ! I try to read the Xorg.0.log .. where there I figure out that the new nvidia-590 drivers no longer support my gpu and said to use the nvidia-580xx (available in aur) .. I followed this advice .. but nothing change ! ... Xorg only start if I delete xorg.conf (just in one display .. I have 3 screen )
/var/log/Xorg.0.log report this error:

the new nvidia-590 drivers no longer support my gpu and said to use the nvidia-580xx
GTX970 should™ be a Maxwell chip so that's correct.
Please post the entire X11 log and the outputs of
dkms status; lspci -kSidenote:
Xorg only start if I delete xorg.conf
You're not supposed to have or require a static server config itfp. Post that file as well.

Thanks for reply

The Xorg.conf is the standard cruft, remove that and don't recreate it - at best it does nothing.
We're missing the xorg log and you can add your complete system journal for the boot:
sudo journalctl -b | curl -F 'file=@-' 0x0.st to that because of the contradiction between dkms and lspci.
(Did you maybe remove the driver but there's a copy in the initramfs?)

I removed xorg.conf (the issues is that i use 3 screen) and now just one is on ... (arandr doesn't see the other two)

It's a hybrid graphics system, the nvidia driver isn't being used, modesetting runs the intel chip and the simpledrm device (in lieu of the nvidia driver)
There's also no way that this system produces the output
Kernel driver in use: nvidiaanywere.
You're likely lacking linux-lts-headers?
Rebuild the nvidia-580xx-dkms module and post the build log.
Edit: read https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Dynami … le_Support

You're … lacking linux-lts-headers
https://archlinux.org/packages/core/x86 … s-headers/
https://archlinux.org/packages/core/x86 … x-headers/
Offline
So you ignored the optional deps of the dkms package that pacman told you about, ignored the dkms wiki page, and ignored what seth told you in posts #6 and #9. Really?

humm you mean the link he give me ? yes I was reading :\
could you please explain the problem is that I dnt have the : dkms package that pacman told you about ... was yay (btw) where I can found them
Offline
When you installed the dkms package as a dep of the new package, pacman printed out the optional deps. Did you read them?
Offline
Because you didn't install https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/nvid … x-settings but that's not the imminent problem
yay (btw) is a pacman wrapping AUR helper - install the kernel header packages, make sure the nvidia dkms modules actually get built
Offline
sorry mate but where I should read these dependency ?

You already have it installed, of course it's not pulling it in again.
I'm done, you can't seem to read anything. You've ignored everything, even seth telling you over and over how to fix it. Some people just can't be helped.
